"Virginia's history is wedded to the land, and for some Virginians, the roots of their families and their land spread deep into the past." Looking back to discover the history of an old homestead in Virginia can be a fascinating journey. In this particular situation, it is especially so, because it begins in the days of the colony of Virginia and moves through time to the present day. One family, the Marshalls, lived in the area from the seventeen hundreds. The ownership by the Marshalls of the Manor of Leeds, of which "Mont Blanc" is a part, dates to the early nineteenth century.
